Community Service Club mixtape
Hey guys, since we couldn’t all agree on doing this online (Ren, Matt) and doing it as a CD (Sarah, Simon) or not doing it at all (Anton), I’ve decided to do both (no, I’m not going to skip it Anton!). So here’s the webpage with the same songs we all chose for our mixtape.
I’ll start off with my choice!
Devil Town by Cave Town (Alex’s choice)
I think I always knew that Miskatonic was a strange town. I remember hearing the stories about all the weird things that happen here since I was a little kid. But it’s also my hometown and it’s the place I feel the happiest in a long time. Sometimes I like to be reminded that no matter what happens, “we’re alright” even in a devil town.
Alien Boy by Oliver Tree (Matt’s choice)
Aw man, I have to write something about why I like this song? Um… because it’s cool and the dude figures out a way to rhyme Tyrannosaurus?
Tony by Sugarland (Sarah’s choice)
I love Sugarland. I’ve loved them ever since hearing Stuck Like Glue on the country radio station with grandma. It’s so fun, we danced around the kitchen. 🙂 But Alex told me that I had to hear this song called Tony by them on Youtube and now I steal her phone to listen to it whenever she lets me. I didn’t know a song could make me feel so much. I wish they wouldn’t use that word in this, but I guess I understand why. I guess we all have a word we think of when we look in the mirror. I know I do. I love you, Sugarl&!
Saturn, the Bringer of Old Age by Gustav Holst (Simon’s choice)
My father was a musician and a professor at Miskatonic University. He taught me and my half sister from a young age to appreciate classical music. Holst’s Planets was a favorite, with their mix of mythology and astronomy all tied together by the mathematical language of music. Saturn, the piece at the center of the work, has always been one I found myself drawn to. It reflects perseverance, diffidence, apathy and endurance. And while many in the musical world reject it for its lack of flair or genius, I’ve always found that reassuring. When the universe rejects everything, you must find your beat and continue on no matter what.
REVOLT by VENIEN (Anton’s choice)
This song #$%^ing rocks so @#$%ing much! Black #@$%ing metal by the mother#$%^er who invented it! I @#$%ing… {Anton, forget it! I am not typing another word for you until you stop swearing so much! -Alex}
FAKE LOVE (Rocking Vibe Mix) by BANGTANTV (Ren’s choice)
Seriously, how can I be the only one who loves K-Pop!?! You guys seriously need to get some better taste in music!
